HISTORY
Rogoznica was once believed to be a Greek colony by the name of Heraklea, which is where the Villa gets its name. Rogoznica is often called the heart of Dalmatia, due to its geographical position exactly halfway between Šibenik and Split making it an ideal setting for a family vacation but also a great base for those who want to explore the Croatian coast further. When in Rogoznica, you can start exploring by visiting the “Dragon’s Eye” lake, a natural phenomenon where you can not only swim but hear many legends of how it come about.
LOCATION…
The position of the house is a mere 50 meters from the beach and turquoise Adriatic Sea. Here you will find plenty of amenities to use at your disposal from sunbeds to paddle boards, kids outdoor play equipment to a private boat mooring in case you decide to explore the many beautiful coves around Rogoznica through a boat rental service or your own.
When you want to relax and socialize, the outside premises of the villa offer a large heated outdoor swimming pool with sunbeds, sun umbrellas, an outside shower and of course, sea and cove views.
If you get hungry you can use the barbeque facilities, the large terrace dining area and enjoy your afternoon/evening while surrounded by the sound of the sea, the smell of the pine trees and the chirping of the crickets (a very famous and unique Dalmatian sound).
Rogoznica has over 50km of shoreline making it ideal to explore throughout you vacation. The “Dragon’s Eye” lake is located right next to Marina Frapa one of the most beautiful and safest marinas in Croatia. Only a 6 min drive will take you to a beautiful viewpoint and the statue of our Lady of Loreto. Both the viewpoint and the statue have quite a story so make sure you visit at sunset for breathtaking views.
THINGS TO SEE & DO
The next spot you should visit is Primošten, the most picturesque town. The old town is worth the walk and if you like a lot of content with your beach days for adults and kids this is definitely a day trip you want to make. The next town that you would come to if you kept driving is Šibenik. Here you want to make sure and visit the Cathedral of Saint Jakov and the St. Nicholas fortress, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. If you however decide to explore the region and head South towards Split you can not miss Trogir, a city of so many colors; in Europe one of the best preserved roman gothic cities, a UNESCO heritage city, a city so full of history and beauty that can easily make you want to stay just a bit longer.
